Stores suffer losses & windows break

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     murali17 walked around his neighborhood in Jersey City, NJ, this afternoon and found debris strewn about from Sandy, as well as lots of waterlogged items on store floors. While he is OK, he’s wondering about the safety of living in a high-rise. 'Seeing the big tree and especially the big glass window broken was a bit scary … We were discussing that living in a high rise building with glass windows isn't safe anymore. I luckily live on 2nd floor but a friend on 11th floor didn't have a pleasant experience all through night with high winds banging his windows,' he said.

PLEASE NOTE: Sandy is an extremely dangerous storm. We urge iReporters to take caution when documenting the storm and follow local guidance. For storm information specific to your area, please monitor warnings issued by your local National Weather Service forecast office.

Aftermath of hurricane Sandy along the water front of Newport Pavonia - Jersey City. You can see that goods are lying on the ground, probably the water which was 4ft high, dragged these down. There is debris left over all along the road and trees on the ground.
