Park Slope in Brooklyn spared for the most part

Our neighborhood lucked out and experienced little damage with most residents still having electricity and very little flooding to report. Many residents were out on the streets today, walking their dogs and chatting with neighbors about surviving the storm. Even in some areas kids were playing in the branches of collapsed trees. Most stores had closed by 7 pm yesterday night but a few groceries remained opened during the night. The damages in our neighborhood from what I can remember seem to have been much less important that Irene last year or even the tornado of 2010.
