Superstorm Sandy on Lake Michigan
A view of large waves rolling over the pier at South Haven, Michigan on the southeast shore of Lake Michigan. The photo was taken early evening October 30, 2012 to show the effects of Superstorm Sandy's air circulation hundreds of miles inland. The storm's unobstructed outer wind bands extended over Lake Michigan and traveled southward down the length of the lake, building waves 20+ feet high, impacting the lakefronts of Chicago, northern Indiana and southern Michigan.
