CNN PRODUCER NOTE iReporter JoanaMateus captured these scenes of angry protesters outside Portugal's parliament in the capital, Lisbon on Wednesday night after the country passed an austerity budget raising taxes. The protesters were demanding the government resign, saying they were taking orders from other European Union leaders. "The demonstration turned violent when some of the protesters pulled down the iron fences preventing them from breaking into the parliament building and burned garbage in front of it," she said. "Tempers calmed, but you could feel that this is not the end of the demonstrations and this will be a hot month." A general strike is planned for later in the month and a final vote on the budget is expected on 27 November.
