    Sandy Hits East Coast

On October 29, 2012, a hurricane hit the east coast of the United States and Canada. This tore up trees, filled streets with water and snow, left people without power, and killed many people. President Obama has halted campaigning the past few days to tour New Jersey to make a plan to recover from the storm. He returns to campaigning on the 1st.
Many cities such as New York are without power. People are trapped in buildings because the elevators are not functional. Several buildings had the power cut before the storm it so people would have some incentive to get out of the storm’s range.
Sandy’s 96 MPH winds brought in over 12 inches of rain that flooded the region. Sandy has also brought an early winter to West Virginia by delivering about 3 feet of snow.
The most gruesome and devastating part of the hurricane is the death toll. As of now, the death toll is estimated to be in the mid 50’s. This number growing every day suggests there are still many people trapped in their homes.
First off, I feel that the government needs to fund and organize rescue programs for the people that are still trapped in their homes. Second, the government needs to rebuild the demolished states by rebuilding homes and businesses with local contractors to help get the money flowing again throughout the states.
