Goto Sine (Go to Movies)
Multimedia students from Malayan Colleges of Laguna didn’t forget this. When the day of 31 in October stepped in, they went to Bay Laguna to have this feeding program and movie viewing entitled “Goto Sine” (Goto means Porridge and Sine pronounced as sɪnɛ (IPA) means movies). Each student contributed for about 20 Pesos (around .5 US dollars) each to make this feeding program possible.
Thee are almost around 60 families that were covered by this simple feeding program. People were really happy especially the kids because they said that they were not forgotten, evacuees told us that they haven’t received any constant aid from the government yet.
The movies that were shown is a collected best movies that were originally created by these students. The students also gave joys to these people by having games and contest, which were loved by most of the kids.
The families stayed in the vicinity for almost two months and they said that they are going to go back to their proper places by the month of December, until the flood resides at their place.
But what does this all means? It means that we can contribute and create a change in our society while we are young, yes we are still students, but this doesn’t stop us to impact the world. The fact that Philippines is a poor country, but with this simple feeding program and movie viewing, we already touch their lives not simply but greatly.
MMA means Multimedia Arts but it also means May Magagawa Ako, (I can make a change).
