    Hurricane Sandys gas shortage

Hurricane Sandy left Long Island without power, along with a ton of devastation. As day 3 ends; one side effect is a growing gas shortage. Long Island is a commuter community heavily dependent on cars. Mass transit only helps a small percentage of the commuters unlike New York City. The Long Island mass transit system is not designed or capable of handling all of the commuters that there are in Nassau and Suffolk Counties.
People are getting desperate, 4 hours before one gas station is scheduled to open there is almost 100 cars waiting to get gas. Right now the station has no fuel and is waiting for a delivery that may or may not come. Yesterday there was a fight at the same gas station that Nassau County Police had to responded and reestablish order.
Officials are saying Saturday there will be fuel, the question that the average person has is; will it be enough? Lights are slowly coming back on, the temperature is dropping, and it is cold at night. Day 4 begins with everyone concerned, many desperate, and some getting nasty.
