    'Superstorm' Sandy: Your stories

    Post-Sandy Random Act of Kindness

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     shaynefeltch photographed this image of Muheisen's Bagel & Deli giving out free hamburgers and drinks to Hurricane Sandy victims in Washington, New Jersey, on November 1. She was out taking photos of her town when she saw the free hamburger and drinks sign. 'I drove for a mile away and decided to make u-turn,' she says. 'But it wasn't because of...the free burgers that made me turn around. I wanted to thank him. I thought it was the one bright spot in an otherwise gloomy day.'
    - Jamescia, CNN iReport producer

The Muheisens of Washington, NJ, owners of Muheisen's Bagel & Deli, were giving away grilled burgers and drinks. It was a heartwarming gesture especially to many who have had no power, heat, or hot food for days.

I was driving down Route 31 South in Washington after an unsuccessful attempt to get gas for my car. I saw this young man waving his sign at me. I just finished eating my lunch. The free burgers didn't interest me as much as seeing this gesture of kindness. So I made a U-turn and decided to take his photo. One of those in line was a woman who hasn't had a hot meal in days. I myself just finished my lunch of potato salad which I bought before Sandy hit NJ. I am one of the lucky ones. We have a generator and our property did not sustain any damage. But the power outage and the post-apocalyptic scenes everywhere in Warren and Hunterdon Counties were beginning to unnerve me. Seeing the Muheisens having a cookout for my town was a welcome sight.
