and secure the blessings of Liberty

The preamble to the constitution was written to establish the purpose of that document, and has been recognized by the courts not as establishing law, but as a way of testing laws our legislators would write to ensure they follow the intent and meaning of the constitution. At its core, preamble lists basic goals that would be necessary to secure Liberty for the American people who were living then, and those to follow. Throughout the years the one undisputed and most dearly held principle and belief of the American people has been the absolute need for liberty - American's individual right and freedom of choice.

That key principle - more than any other - is what has held this country together for over two hundred and thirty years. Freedom of choice is what drives economic growth. Capitalism, which has prevailed time and again to raise all boats, absolutely depends upon freedom of choice for its survival. It's principle is much the same, free people, trading equally under fair terms, making their own choices to improve their lives and the lives of their families. America cannot and will not endure without the the security and protection of the principle of individual liberty and freedom of choice. It will wither, and it will die without it.

Therefore, whenever a populist social goal comes along - even one proponents can insist carry nothing but good intentions - it must always be remembered that our most core principle - liberty, freedom of choice - cannot be broken just to serve some political or social goal. Principles can't work like that. They are not arbitrary rules. They can be ignored when they are inconvenient.

When you ignore, abrogate, and fail to protect a core principle, then you lose it's protection. In whatever endeavor it may have protected you in the past, the application of that principle has been rendered "optional" because you - through allowing it to be broken for the matter of your immediate convenience - have personally accepted it as being optional.

Freedom of choice - liberty - is a key principle so important to humanity that no society will ever survive without it.. It is a key to who we are, intelligent men and women who need freedom of choose to survive. So when as a society we childishly and foolishly decide to ignore or reject that principle in order to seek some material goal - whether it be healthcare, housing, or any other popular social want - we are doing no less than slitting our throats.

We cannot afford to kill the one core principle that our everyday lives depend upon. And yet that is what many Americans still ask to do when sanctioning the vile concept of allowing government to deny our right to free choice and force Americans to do only what it has declared to be "for the good of the people".

Freedom of choice is for the good of the people. And freedom of choice is the only truly fair and equal good that any government can offer to protect.

Mandates are nothing but vile government force. They have no principle behind them. There is nothing honest about them. They are an abrogation of and an affront to liberty. And when they have done their work, there is nothing left.

Not liberty, not freedom of choice, and not an America - as we once knew and cherished.

So my vision for the America is for Americans to remember, recognize, and embrace the core principle that made this nation a good place to live. Enjoy, honor, and - importantly - protect liberty from charlatans offering free candy and entitlements.
