    ING Marathon setup next to rescue operations

    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     This iReporter told me - just prior to Mayor Bloomberg's decision to cancel the marathon, ' I've never seen such destruction in my entire time in Florida. I just moved here in July from Hollywood Florida. The ING Marathon is interfering with relief operations. I can't believe this mayor would insist on having this race with so much aid needed just less than two miles away.'

    I'm a member of the Coast Guard and I am one of the people at Midland Beach on Staten Island who lost everything. Now with the marathon being set up, the location interferes with Coast Guard operations. Our base is located right at the start of the race. I had to park almost a mile away and be shuttled to work to accommodate this event. There are much more important thing we should be focusing on. Many people are still struggling.
