DANGLING OVER NYC - CRANE PORTRAITS
- Jareen, CNN iReport producer
The crane above 57th Street is symbolic of a broken NYC - dangling - like the struggling infrastructure of a post-Sandy New York. These shots were taken over the past couple of evenings, depicting the precariousness of a doomed situation. Roads are cordoned off below, creating a dead zone in midtown. The painstaking job of removing this crane requires a ladder to be built up to it Rapunzel style and the crane to be dismantled piece by piece. The reverse of putting NYC back together again. Piece by piece. A balancing act. – Jodi Kaplan
