CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Talisl says he was glad to see runners running in New York City despite the cancellation of the ING New York City Marathon, which was scheduled to happen on November 4. 'Seeing thousands, if not tens of thousands of runners, that continued as they planned was inspiring. These people spent their year getting ready for this run and they were going to do it anyway, but this time without any official support from the city and without diverting any resources,' he said.

He too once ran the New York City marathon and says he knows how hard and time consuming it is to train for this ran, and he also knows how much New York City still needs to recover post-Sandy. 'We've spent the last week with hardship forced upon us by Mother Nature. Every time I look at marathon runners, these are people that choose to persevere. It's inspiring. Maybe we need this more then ever?' he said.
