Jersey Shore memories |
All But a Forgotten Memory
In the summer of 1980, a newlywed couple took off from Atlanta on their honeymoon. Their destinations included stops in Niagara Falls and Long Beach Island to visit family members as they began their new life together. The family member they would be visiting in Long Beach Island made a lasting impression on Dave Jordan, the groom. Having never met Mary Louise Lloyd, or "Aunt Weezie" as she was known, she made him feel right at home.
When the devastation occurred during Hurricane Sandy a week ago, Dave, now a widower, began reminiscing about Aunt Weezie and the few days he and his bride, Sigrid, spent on the island. He longed to be able to walk to the lighthouse, Barnegat Lighthouse, again with his bride, yet he realized those days had passed long ago.
