If I Could Vote in This Year’s US Presidential Election, I Will Definitely Vote for Obama
- sarahbrowngb, CNN iReport producer
I’m from the Philippines. If I could vote in this year’s US presidential election, I would certainly vote for Obama! Pres. Obama champions international cooperation, human rights and religious tolerance. Obama somehow symbolizes racial equality, social justice, universal healthcare, US immigration reform and the search for new and clean sources of energy. His vision for America is the appropriate vision for every country in the modern world.
Obama is a real champion of international cooperation in solving global problems. Obama strongly believes that there’s a necessity to have a ‘global pact’ that can really seriously curtail extreme carbon- emissions to the atmosphere. Pres. Obama believes that climate change is a ‘national security concern’ for America. His administration has a clear policy on efficiently using ‘clean sources of energy’ to combat global warming. Such global view is compatible with the concept of a global village.
Obama’s dedication to social justice is worth emulating. As I’ve said, ocial justice is not about the redistribution of wealth; it’s about giving all the members of the society the chance to become productive and creative. Those who have more in life should pay more taxes than those who have less in life. Such system gives all the members of the society a chance to have access to education, housing, healthcare, good infrastructure and employment opportunity. Social justice is about giving all the members of the society the opportunity to enjoy and experience life, liberty and happiness.
I think Obama deserves to be the US President for another 4 years. Obama represents the American Dream! He worked his way up the social ladder to achieve his dreams, He knows how it feels to be a common man. His dedication to the democratic principles that he believes in makes him a great statesman.
Who would win in this year’s US presidential election? I think it’s really a tight race between Romney and Obama. I have 5 reasons why Obama has an edge over Romney in winning this year’s US presidential election. The 5 reasons are:
1.) The Obama administration has successfully hunted down terrorist leaders like Al Awlaki and Osama Bin Laden. Both Al Awlaki and Bin Laden were killed last year- 2011. Pres. Obama has successfully handled the War On Terror.
2.) Team Obama has successfully waged its online campaign. It means that many voters might have been persuaded by the Obama campaign through the Internet to support Obama. It also means that the Obama campaign was more visible than the Romney campaign on the Internet in all throughout the campaign season.
3.) Romney has made several flip-flops on various key issues in all throughout the campaign season. Hence, it appears that Obama is the better statesman than Romney. Many voters might have been turned off by the fact that Romney is somehow unsure about the very principles that he believes in.
4.) Obama won the “early votes.” I think Obama’s lead among early voters will somehow produce a ‘bandwagon effect’ to voters who would still vote on actual Election Day. If Obama won the early votes, there’s a high probability that he will also win the overall votes.
5.) The Obama administration has successfully made improvements on the US economy. I think the downward trend in the US economy was somehow reversed through 2009 and has been in positive numbers ever since. The Obama administration has revived the US automobile industry. Many new jobs were created this year. There is positive growth in the private sector under the Obama administration. Though there are still many things to work on, I do believe that the Obama administration has done its best efforts to improve the US economy.
Those are the 5 reasons why I believe that Obama has an edge over Romney in winning this year’s US presidential election.
