    Election Day, 2012

My polling place is my kids' school. We went in early, before dropping them at daycamp. In past election years there haven't been lines at all, but this time there was a short one—maybe 15 minutes.

I took one son to the poll with me, while my wife took the other. They voted in their classes yesterday, filling out voter registration cards first. I explained the process, but he seemed mostly interested in the smart card.

I continue to marvel that so many Americans simply don't bother to vote, and I sometimes wonder about the ways this country would be different if more of us did.
