    Opinion on U.S. election from Egypt

    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     iReporter arasquare from Cairo, Egypt, would vote for Obama if he could - but that's not to say he always thinks there is much difference between the current U.S. president and his Republican challenger when it comes to Middle East issues. "I think many Egyptians are less enthusiastic this time because they haven't seen any significant change in the U.S. foreign policy," he says. "Somehow, after the Arab Spring, we realized that the change comes from inside rather than outside."

    Hi, this is Ahmed Raafat from Cairo, Egypt. My opinion is based on foreign policy which affects me and my country. I don't see a major difference between Obama and Romney when it comes to the unconditional support of Israel and not having a clear plan to a peaceful resolution of the Arab-Israeli conflict specially regarding the declaration of a Palestinian state and stopping illegal Israeli settlements in the west bank. I think many Egyptians are less enthusiastic this time because they haven't seen any significant change in the U.S. foreign policy. Why were we enthusiastic about the previous elections? I think we believed at that time that change comes from outside rather than from inside due to various reasons including lack of hope in our country's leaders. That changed somehow after the Arab spring as we realized that the change comes from inside rather than outside.

    I think I would prefer Obama. I also think he is going to win. Obama's views are moderate when compared with Romney's views. I think Obama prefers diplomatic peaceful solutions rather than military intervention. In an unstable region like the middle-east, decisions have to be taken wisely and carefully. Any military intervention could lead to a world war and that's what I fear if Romney becomes president. I support Obama's decision to decrease military presence in the region and also his decision to adopt a diplomatic solution to Iran's nuclear program that could lead to more stability in the region.

    I hope the coming U.S president adopts a more balanced policy when dealing with the Arab-Israeli conflict and I hope he takes more effective actions to support the Syrians revolution. I would also like the U.S. president to choose friendship of the Arab people over friendship of Arab regimes.

    I wish Americans all the best and I hope they choose what's best for them.
