Sarah "Bring it on" Palin not cooperating with "Troopergate"
Sarah Palin is now refusing to cooperate with the "Troopergate" special investigation. By now, most of us have heard about "Troopergate". For those who haven't, to sum up -a bipartisan investigation to see whether or not Gov. Palin and her office/administration pressued Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan into firing Mike Wooton, a State Trooper and Gov. Palin's former brother-in law. -when Monegan refused, he was fired. -Gov. Palin said her and/or her office had no contact with Monegan, but then aruond 2 dozen emails came out showing indeed contact and pressure was put on him to fire said trooper. Gov. Sarah Palin wants a state board to review the circumstances surrounding the dismissal of Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan -- *taking the unusual step of making an ethics complaint against herself.* Her lawyer sent an "ethics disclosure" Monday night to Attorney General Talis Colberg. The governor asked that it go to the three-person Personnel Board as a complaint. *While ethics complaints are usually confidential, Palin wants the matter open.* On July 28th, a bipartisan vote in the state legislature commissioned an investigation into the matter, at a cost of up to a hundred thousand dollars. Palin had invited it. "Hold me accountable," she said. She promised full coöperation: "We would never prohibit, or be less than enthusiastic about, any kind of investigation. Let's deal in the facts." -This investigation was agreed upon July 28th, a full month before Gov. Palin's nomination acception, by a bipartisan council consisting of 12 members, I believe 6 rep. and 6 dem. -Now the John McCain campaign is saying she will not cooperate because it has become "tainted". What they don't say is the investigation was attempted to be moved from the special counsel to the state personnel board, but...and I'm quoting again *"Under state law, the board must hire an independent counsel for complaints against the governor to determine whether evidence of a violation of the state ethics act exists.* The Legislature's special counsel Steve Branchflower so far has not been able to depose either Palin or her husband, Todd. *Van Flein indicated the governor likely will not agree to a deposition unless lawmakers turn the matter over to the Personnel Board.* "Assuming you agree to* submit to proper jurisdictional process, we can check the Governor's schedule to see when she and the First Gentleman are available for an interview," Van Flein wrote.* WE CANNOT LET THIS HAPPEN! THE ABUSE OF POWER BY PALIN AND THE MCCAIN ADMINISTRATION CANNOT BE ALLOWED TO TRIUMPH!
