    Murder of Alissa Beth Guernsey

On March 28th, 2009 Alissa Guernsey was in the sole care and custody of her mothers cousin Christy Schaffer, when she was killed due to blunt force trauma to the head. In the months prior to her death, Alissa endured horrific torture. Christy Schaffer was charged with two counts of neglect of a dependent. A class B and C felony. She was allowed to plea down to a class B charge and the class C was dropped. She was given a ten year sentence with six years suspended. Judge Vanderbeck revisited her sentence and she was released just after 77 days. Christy Schaffer was never charged with murder. After the investigation it clearly showed that Alissa's death was ruled a homicide. Because Christy Schaffer was never charged with homicide the ruling of Double Jeopardy does not apply. Alissa's Army's mission is to expose the corruption that lead to Alissa's murderer being released from jail in just 77 days. We demand that the case be reopen and that the responsible party be charged with murder. Due to the multiple conflicts of interest associated with the prosecutor and judge involving personal and professional relationships with the defendants father. Alissa's doctor also failed to report the abuse. This is a viral campaign that continues to grow. This is a grass routes organization fighting for Alissa's justice. Please help give this case national attention, so we do not see it get swept under the rug again. Please contact Bernadine at avocate@babyalissacries4justice.org.
