    Obama wins re-election: Your reaction

    More from Sergiom

I’m Happy and Ecstatic That Obama Was Re-elected as President of the United States

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     For iReporter Sergiom, who had been watching the election keenly for the past few months from his home in the Philippines, Obama's victory was a vindication of his hopes. "I'm so happy to hear the news, Obama is a huge icon for racial equality and social justice," he said. He also noted that Obama's victory will work well for citizens of his own country, many of whom work overseas and send invaluable remittances, or funds, back home to the Philippines to support their families. "The Obama administration's job-creating programs will certainly benefit Filipino migrant workers who are employed in the US, as well as such workers' families here in the Philippines," he said.

I’m from the Philippines. I’ve said in my last iReport that if I could vote in this year’s US presidential election, I would definitely vote for Obama. I also said in that commentary-video that Obama has an edge over Romney in winning this year’s US presidential election. I gave out 5 reasons in that commentary-video on why Obama would win in this year’s US presidential election. I’m so happy and ecstatic to hear the news that Obama won the just concluded US presidential election. I’m truly a big fan of Obama, and I know that he deserves to be re-elected as President of the United States. I consider Pres. Obama as a huge icon for racial equality, social justice and global cooperation. The Philippines and the US are close allies. Hence, whoever wins the US presidency, the mentioned countries will continue their friendship.

I believe the Obama administration is quite friendly to Filipino migrant workers. Obama’s job-creation programs will certainly assure Filipino migrant workers there of secured employment and stable jobs. The remittances coming from Filipino overseas workers do help strengthen the Philippine economy. About 46 percent of the total remittances coming from overseas (migrant) Filipino workers, the largest section in the remittances’ pie, come from those who are right now working in the US. Therefore, the Obama administration’s job-creating programs will certainly benefit Filipino migrant workers who are employed in the US, as well as such workers’ families here in the Philippines. Remittances from Filipino migrant workers from various parts of the world do help make the Philippine economy become robust and stable.

Pres. Obama is dedicated in searching out for practical solutions that will curtail extreme carbon-emissions to the atmosphere. The Philippine has experienced super typhoons and powerful storm surges in recent years. Such not-so-normal typhoons and storm surges were due to climate change. I think Obama’s dedication to environmentalist policies and the creation of a global pact that can reduce carbon-emissions to the atmosphere will help save the Philippines and the rest of the world from the bad effects of global warming. Obama’s  sincerity in establishing a global accord that would greatly reduce carbon-emissions will certainly inspire Filipinos to urge the Philippine Government to take part in such a great endeavor. The Obama administration will certainly inspire many Filipinos to search for clean sources of energy.

I think the Obama administration should reach out to Republicans and try to work out deals that will ensure full recovery for the US economy. Both Democratic and Republican Parties should work together in securing economic growth and prosperity for the American nation. Loyalty to the party ends when loyalty to the country begins.

I believe Obama’s victory will inspire the citizens of this planet to aspire for a world that is completely free from religious bigotry, racism and cultural intolerance. Obama can surely help in advancing human rights and freedom in all the countries of this world, especially those in the Middle East region. I believe Obama’s re-election will further the cause of freedom in the Middle East and in Africa. Pres. Obama has been very sympathetic to pro-democracy groups in the Middle East and in Africa. Congratulations to US Pres. Barack Obama!
