Election 2012: Your stories |
US election night in Cairo
It was a great experience to spend the election night watching the smooth democratic process of a true democratic country like USA, CNN was the main source on the large screens in the house of Deputy Press Attaché in the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, Mr. David Linfield.
I’d really like to thank him for his generous hospitality.
We were homogenous crowed, despite we came from very different backgrounds and different political POVs.
Members of April 6 Youth Movement (Like Ahmed Maher and Esraa Abdel Fattah) some other political youth, journalists, UN members, attachés from other embassies and ordinary people.
We all have this light conversations about Obama Vs Romney, took some photos next to the candidates' figures, red and blue badges and brochures, republicans and democrats. We also did this funny unofficial ballot.
Drinking the fresheners eating the cup cakes with democrats and GOP logos on it, waiting with great enthusiasm for hourly projection live broadcasting from CNN election center, counting electoral points writing it on the tally sheets, observing Empire States lights..Virginia, Ohio, ..
It was a long night, Congratulations America, best luck Obama.
