Pink Floyd keyboardist dies |
Is There Anybody Out There?
The first time I heard "Dark Side of the Moon" it was a hallucinagenic experience of its own. My roommate had a top-notch stereo dydtem. The rooms were covered with blacklight art posters. and I owned a huge theater stage blacklight that drenched the rooms in its eerie glow. Incense wafted everywhere along with a few other aromas from the "spleefs" that were being passed around. The first notes to come from the gigantic speakers cranked all the way up put us all in a trance until we had to turn the record over. And then we reentered the trancelike state until the final note. I was changed forever. I played guitar for many years and some used to say I resembled Gilmour in appearance and he certainly was a major influence in my guitar style. We all age and must someday meet our maker but Pink Floyd will live forever!
