African Decsendents of Pakistan Celebrates Obama’s Victory.

The African decsendents living in Karachi celebrates Barak Obama victory as president under the supervision of Pasban at Karachi Press Club, November 8, 2012, Photo by Yasir Kazmi, Karachi, Pakistan.

These descendants of people brought from East Africa as laborers, who believe that US president Barack Obama shares their genetic roots, are planning a gala celebration to mark Obama’s return as the US president for a second term. Many of the Africans brought into the Indian subcontinent entered through the ports of Baluchistan and Sindh, where they worked as dockworkers, horse-keepers, domestic servants, agricultural workers, nurses, palanquin carriers and apprentices to blacksmiths and carpenters. "Mombasa Street" and "Sheedi Village" in Karachi speak to the African presence in modern-day Pakistan.
