    Husband, Father and Hero, SGT Erich G Schmitt

    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     tarahsc is honoring her husband, Sergeant Erich Schmitt. He has served in the United States Army for ten years and returned from serving in Iraq in June 2010. She says it's tough when your soldier is gone for a year at a time but Erich has taught her to be strong and resilient in times of hardship.

    I would like to Salute and honor my best friend, father to my children and loving husband, SGT Erich G Schmitt. We met 7 years ago in Germany when we were stationed together. 7 years ago we started a life long adventure together. He is with out a doubt the best man in the world. He has served our great country for 10 years, without any complaints. I know everyone says this, but really its true. If he complains its that he doesn't have the time in the day to mentor enough Soldiers or that he doesn't have the right tools. He goes to work and mentors Soldiers and teaches them what it is to be a Soldiers Soldier. Our kids know by watching him that he is proud of what he does and what being in the Army is all about. I am proud to call this man my Husband. I love him and respect what he does for our country. Thank you my love for all that you do everyday.

    I also want to thank all my friends, and fellow Veterans both active duty and retired for all that you do. This country is stronger because of the Service you provide to us.
