    Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic

A college student was killed by a shot fired by a policeman. The incident occurred when a group of people protesting against the tax reform, imposed by the Government.

With this tax reform, the government tries to cover the money that officials of the ruling party, PLD, subtracted of public funds, as well as what they spent on the campaign, totaling 185.000 billion pesos.

People are outraged by this measure and the rising prices of food, gasoline and taxes from 16% to 18%. Tambén also a tax increase internet shopping at a cost below 200 dollars, violating DR CAFTA, signed with the United States.

The perpetrators of this theft have gone unpunished, because the government protects them and even hold them in administrative positions. The protests continued across the country is that the people are tired of corrupt politicians.
