“Moesh Knows”
There was smaller player on the field, and every time he got knocked down he got back up. He shrieked his voice with authority…….he was the “Rudy” of that team. He was always pacing ……..built like a fire plug……..confident………but could truly be soft spoken. Everything that came out of this mouth was fairly intelligent and his words often helped carry his team to victory or a productive practice.
Ultimately he had to stop playing football as he was getting his ass kicked day after day in practice. He was small and few knew he had been through serious medical problems as a young man. I knew about it because he once told me and I learned his mortality was questioned at an early age and Moesh beat the odds.
Mike was now no longer on the team, but on the sidelines of each and every game. I have a feeling he showed up at practices as well. He single handedly became the heart and soul of a football team that wasn’t always winning games or were they? Mike was winning all day every day for the team……for himself…..for life as we know it….and I always noticed that. Mike was teaching others life lessons and about preserving your heart……your care for others…..and to behave in a crazy society……to protect others and their emotions. He had the biggest heart I know of today. Find someone with a bigger one….I dare ya!
Today Mike is back on the field in a sense as an athletic trainer at the high school level. He completed a difficult education to do what he does and pay his spirit forward……and help others. Mike is an inspiration to us all. I don’t talk to him every second, but I sure the heck have never forgotten about Mike Mosciano. I mean……how could you……and why would you want to……he was changing the world as a high school kid and still is today. He impacts society everywhere he goes in a positive manner.
