Mormons Cancel Church to Help Hurricane Sandy Victims

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     iReporter and wedding videographer jbrownphoto has been going to the Rockaways in Queens the past few weekends to volunteer in the Sandy relief efforts. He and busloads of other Mormons canceled their church plans this Sunday and he documented the day of volunteering in this video. 'My main emphasis for making the video is I felt there are a lot of people donating things, but not a lot of people going down there and doing physical work. I wanted to do something to motivate people to go down there and work,' he said. jbrownphoto has since uploaded a new version of the video.
    - zdan, CNN iReport producer

Thousands of members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints continue to volunteer to assist in the recovery efforts within these communities. On Sunday, November 11th, thousands of Mormons cancelled their church services and arrived by air, bus and train from all across the country to help.

Please share this video with any friends and family that might be able to help the areas affected by Hurricane Sandy. Not only at the Rockaways, but Staten Island, Long Island, and New Jersey. The church is coordinating the efforts, but anyone (both Mormon and non Mormon) is welcome to come and help.
