Protestas en República Dominicana / Dominican Republic protests
The response of a Nation.

After yesterdays great success, not because the tax reform was back down, but because the country came together to fight back the mockery of our government, new videos of government expenses came to light.
These videos demonstrate ministers and congress man purchasing different kind of luxury vehicles, like porsche, bentleys, rolls royce, among others, all bought in the last 8 years of the past administration. These purchases can still be done every two years, and are exempt of any tax payment.
Other videos show government license plates being used in cars that where not assigned to them, and in some cases you can observe same numbers in various different cars.
All of these videos are being published through Facebook and other internet webpages, as our internal press is keeping its mouth shut about this, and instead it publishing an article on saturday stating that " Entities advice danger for freedom of speech," saying that " the project contemplates to penalize a person with jail if her or she speaks badly of a member of the government." Today the local newspaper Listin Diario, gave yesterdays movement approximately 3 paragraphs and stated that only hundreds attended it, when more than 100 thousand attended to the various different manifestations.
Both maneuvers, in my opinion, are trying to silence an discourage the people.
After the news broke that there was a multi million deficit, our newly elected president Danilo Medina, has done nothing other than making, sending and signing the new tax reform, remaining quite. It came to a shock today that our ex- president Dr. Leonel Fernández is the one doing the talking tomorrow. And this question comes to our minds, is a our new president a puppet? Why doesn't he address the nation and confront us, the nation who selected him for the new mandate? It is outrageous and infuriating that he does not dedicate the time or effort to talk.
So other actions are going to take place "Consumer first national strike", on the 16th, 17th and 18th of the current month and year. This action, first of its kind, is for the government to know and ask themselves a question, if we do not consume, how will you end the deficit?
As well, as the call to our fellow dominicans that live in the exterior, to protest peacefully in front of the consulate of the Dominican Republic in the country where you reside, the 17th at 3pm.
As the motto says: A united country will never be defeated.
