Mike is doing his thing, and his this is right! When he first came into town, he didn't have the trump card because BBQ, as easy as it sounds is not something everyone can do. We all think we can, but the truth is most BBQ restaurants fail. U have a better chance of survival in Texas but you stand alone in South Louisiana, so yours better be good! The first time I had a chance to eat at Big Mike's I was on my way home after loading the boat with some reds down in PAC when my stomach told me you gotta stop this truck. Sitting there at the red light I saw a pitt rolling with smoke so I crammed my rig into the parking lot. My buddy and I walked up and there was a hot line and styrofoam plates and not a whole lot to choose from. After getting a little meat beans and slaw we approached the register and was told "have a nice day"! They were giving food away! That was a sampler of BBQ Talent and mike was baiting the hook! The food was excellent and I knew I would need more. I was excited to hear Mike was coming to Barrow St which is a little closer. Mike has taken the time to find recipes that satisify the masses and his decour is dead on! I personally love the place and wish I could get there more often than I do! I am rooting for him all the way and have been from the first time I read his article in the DC to when he lost his restaurant on Barrow to a fire! Mike will be here for a while!
