This iReport is part of an assignment:
Travel photo of the day
Grandpa's words before he died.
He kept every dollar he made, and kept it in gold that he put into the ground and trusted no banks or GIC's or deposit banks. He had no trust in two footed critters and even less for the four footed kinds.
"Everyone does a 180 degree turn in life: women, doctors, lawyers, cops, politicians. Trust no one." he said.
These were pretty stern words coming from an 85 year old time traveller who trusted absolutely no one, and no thing in this life.
Then he fnished off with "cut the cloth according to your pattern. Don't live according to the conditions you think you have, but to the real conditions you have according to physical observation. Live in your means, keep 100,000 cash on hand at all times and trust no man. Give trust, but only over time as it is earned. Any other way is suicidal and you will be used and discarded like a pizza box." Here were the jems that came after over 80 years of living in the west through three tough wars: WW1, WW2, Korea and Viet Nam. And raising 5 kids.
He did know a few things over time and he was not far from the mark.
He trusted aboslutely no one, no bank and no government. They were all pirates to him ready to steal hard earned money.
