Afghanistan: NATO Supreme Allied Commander visits Italian-led Regional Command West of ISAF.
Herat, Afghanistan, (16 Nov, 2012) - Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), Admiral James G. Stavridis, conducted yesterday an on-site survey of the Italian-led ISAF Regional Command West in Camp Arena, Herat. Greeted upon arrival by RC West Commander, Brigadier General Dario Ranieri, SACEUR received an overview of the situation in the region and on principal security, governance and development issues regarding current and future operations in the area where a Combined Force of 27,000 Afghan and NATO troops is deployed. At the conclusion of his visit, Admiral Stavridis signed the RC-W Book of Honor and expressed to General Ranieri his personal appreciation for the excellent job done in Western Afghanistan. -
