    Soldier Surprises Daughter During Second Grade Musical

    Second grader Christiana Langston, 7, listens to her father, Army Chief Warrant Officer 2 Christopher Langston of 1st Battalion, 2nd Aviation Regiment, apologize for his absence Nov. 14 at Evans International Elementary School in Colorado Springs. Christiana's mother, Cindy Langston, and 15-month old sister, Caelyn, stood by Christiana's side as her father's surprise message aired over a loud speaker, as part of a second grade class tribute to Veterans Day. The events also included lively musical presentations and an Army soldier's re-enlistment oath. Schools throughout Falcon School District 49, a district educating more than 15,000 kindergarten-twelfth grade students, paid tribute to Veterans Day, Nov. 11, with events spanning nearly a week.

    "I'm sorry I couldn't be there tonight," said Langston, who was one of about 400 soldiers from Fort Carson who deployed in February, assigned to 25th Combat Aviation Brigade, 25th Infantry Division, from Fort Shafter, Hawaii.

    "I love you and I'll see you real soon."
