‘Peace and Quiet’ at Times Square

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Having worked for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in the Philippines, Sunsetlady says she has a big heart for veterans. "The Peace and Quiet Dialogue Station is in the heart of Times Square. I wanted to share my thoughts and message for the veterans, and support this valuable project," she says. "The messages posted on the wall were inspiring to read. I also wrote my message myself. It was an interesting experience. I think every wonderful message for the veterans matter to them."
    - Anika3, CNN iReport producer

‘Peace and Quiet’ is a temporary civic dialogue station at Times Square, where Veterans and civilians engage in conversation. Conversations are open-ended and moderated so that Veterans and civilians have opportunity to listen and participate. It is a tranquil place to meet, share stories, leave a note, or shake hands.

The project started November 11, and ends today. It was initiated, designed, and built by Brooklyn-based architecture firm Matter Practice, in partnership with Times Square Alliance.

The station is hosted by several organizations - Pat Tillman Foundation, Tillman Military Scholars, Socialgence, Code of Support Foundation, Brian Fernandes-Hollaran, and StoryCorps’ Military Voices Initiative.
