Fire Bomber into Hell
I attended his Celebration of Life Sept. 9th 2012 and his pilot friends organized a fly by over the Church in his honor, they did the “missing man’ formation. It was poignant to say the least.
What a man Linc was!! His 37 years career was amazing and full of adventures, danger and excitement!
His contributions to the aerial firefighting community go far beyond his flight time over a fire.
Besides being an Air Tanker pilot, Linc was also an author, he wrote several books: Pilots notes for fire Bombing, a guide for pilots which is being used today, he wrote Air Attack on Forest Fires which became the world’s definitive manual on fire-fighting techniques by aircraft.
And he also wrote Fire Bomber into Hell, his latest book, a story of survival in a deadly occupation.
I took some shots of the fly-by and made a montage of Linc in fire-fighting uniform, as well as a fiery sky and an air tanker.
Yes, indeed, Linc was quite a man! We will miss him!
Fly high Linc!
