    Cleaning Up the Devastation

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Sunsetlady shot these photos in Staten Island's New Dorp Beach community on Saturday, November 17. "It is sad to see damage like this and to talk to people who were effected. I could feel their grievance, loss and sadness. But we just need to let them know that we are here to give them long term assistance and support," she says. "These volunteers who were helping with the clean up are really inspiring. People volunteering were giving their best effort to help put things back to normal, if not at least lessen the emotional and physical burden of the devastation."
    - Anika3, CNN iReport producer

The physical devastation brought by hurricane Sandy is underway, and will take a while.
Volunteers in cleaning up this destruction are making a difference to the lives of these household owners.
