Located in the Danish Village of Solvang, California this small family owned and operated cafe is one that locals and travelers must experience. The setting is casual with dishes created in the standard of fine dining. They utilize local produce, seafood and game available in Santa Barbara County. The flavor, preparation and presentation of the creative dishes are out of this world. The menu changes every few weeks so there is always something new and delicious to excite your palate. Local quality wines are available to pair with your meal. I had the pleasure of trying the Spice Crusted Rack of Lamb and the Roasted Flat Iron Steak; both were amazing. A woman at a table nearby ordered the Molasses Braised Short Rib. Judging from the extremely satisfied expression she made when she took her first bite, I plan to savor that entree during my next visit. The menu also includes fresh seafood dishes such as Crab Cake Set and Peppercorn Crusted Ahi. I would recommend that you and your party order different entrees so you can sample each others selections. The restaurant is open for dinner Thursday through Saturday. Breakfast and lunch is available Wednesday through Sunday. I look forward to tasting one of the fresh unique salads available on the lunch menu. Make sure you experience this delight if you are ever in the Santa Barbara Wine Country. The address is 1555 Mission Drive, Solvang, Ca 93463. You can view the menu at www.succulentcafe.com.
