Protestors disrupt Israeli Dance Company's UK Tour

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     iReporter amusiyiwa captured these images of protesters in Leicester, England, demonstrating outside a theatre which was hosting an Israeli dance company. He said the several hundred protesters were calling for a boycott of Israeli products and events, chanting "Free Palestine". They also booed those who attended the event, which comes as pressure mounts on both Israel and the Palestinians to forge a cease-fire following days of deadly rocket attacks from Gaza and Israeli air strikes. He says it is not unusual to see such protests in the city, which has a "culture of activism". "It's difficult as I have friends on both sides, but on the other hand I tend to be on the side of people who are oppressed," he said. He hopes a cease-fire can be put in place as soon as possible.

Performances by the Israeli Batsheva Dance Company have been dogged by protests at each venue the troupe has performed as part of its tour of the United Kingdom. The latest such demonstration took place at The Curve Theatre in Leicester over the weekend. The demonstration saw protestors chanting and booing at people who had bought tickets to watch the performance while inside the theatre itself, the performance was disrupted many times by protestors who had manged to sneak in.
