“Game or Tailgate?”
I have been to my share of college footballs in my day….ok I have been to crap loads of games all over the country. Sorry for the use of the word crap, but there are far more favorable four letter words used in a college stadium amongst the crowd. Ok….I just dig college football and it is part of my fabric along with others. It is as if the game is part of my soul and I am a player when I get to the game. However, in reality I am just some fat college football dude eating food screaming my head off. Well, this article is about everything that takes place long before the game.
Before athletes are getting their helmets polished and long before the field has taken shape with fans there is an even larger sports culture growing. This culture is over powering and has a strong following……it is a cult…..no “not drink purple drinks” cult…..I present to you “TAILGATERS”!!!! Ohhh mannnn are these guys and gals awesome. It truly is a culture that extends far beyond beers…brats……and slices of pizza. I have often wondered why someone does not capitalize on this culture and build a business around it. Solid market size……..big eaters and love to keep their drinks cold…….and want something that makes all that lugging around simple and easy.
Today someone finally has and I know about it because I own one of their products. www.vostokcoolers.com actually makes the coolest cooler I have ever seen and it can stack a solid inventory of food and drinks. I only drink soda and have a food addiction that can fill a cooler to the brim. Vostok has been smart and a husband and wife have taken advantage of this concept. In fact, they made it into business and have satisfied this crazy audience.
Tailgaters are a select audience of VERY classy folks and constantly want to outdo each other in some fashion. It usually starts with the food selection…..tons of noise……and some form of TV/Radio production all in one’s tailgate turf. However, the creativity lies in the equipment and not the food. Vostok Coolers embrace the look and feel of a football and make items for other sports. The size of this cooler is truly radical along with the wheels that make it easy to pull around. Heck, my grandma tools hers around when hitting the games and cooking up a storm. Ok, that isn’t true, but it did sound funny.
Here is the deal…..I love when anyone looks at an idea and brings it to life. Ken and his wife Amanda made this idea reality……they make a living with it and have shared the tailgate experience. If you think about this tailgater culture it is like finding new neighbors and friends you never knew existed. Well, they are at the field before the game having fun and Vostok has only enhanced that experience. I love college football, but even love knowing more that tailgating is an experience and takes on a culture of its own we can all have fun with.
