    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Using the recipe found on the site Leite's Culinaria , LisaKayaks whipped up some homemade twinkies after hearing the news on Friday and reveals she likes the homemade version the best. "Some of my friends enjoy twinkies flambé on kayak trips, which is when they soak twinkies in 151 proof rum, set them ablaze and enjoy after the flames go out," she says. "When the news came out that twinkies were going away, my buddies were quite dramatic about the loss. So I searched the recipe and reassured them that twinkies flambé could still be a tradition on cold nights on the beach. The twinkies in the photo were enjoyed on Saturday, not flambé though."

    An American institution, Hostess, declared its intent to go out of business today. You'd have thought it was a national crisis... front page news... homages on facebook. Oh, the angst!

    So the Internets came to the rescue, and I made my first batch. Hadn't had one since grade school; these are sticky sweet, and half of one is plenty. Who wants one?
