Love Connects All: Friends Make Us Feel Like Family
We are grateful for the love and invitation of dear friends this Thanksgiving. Although we left the Mid-west behind over 18 years ago, we still consider ourselves “orphans” when it comes to Thanksgiving. Our family is scattered throughout Ohio, Michigan and California. Thankfully, our dear friends, Chuck and Susie, invite us each year to join their family gathering.
We never take for granted their kind and welcoming invitation. The love that flows from this clan is abundant and frankly, we just bask in it, and give thanks for their sincere kindness. We also relish their acceptance of our son, Wyatt, who has some special needs.
This year they downsized to a smaller home. I must confess that I was holding my breath. I understood that they may not have room for us. But again their love was abundant and welcoming. We were so excited to be included in the celebration. My husband Jim put extra effort into the dishes we shared.
For me, the highpoint was their encouragement of our son, Wyatt, to say grace. Wyatt said, “Thanksgiving is about forgiving!” We all marveled at the fact that such wisdom could come from the mouth of a babe!
I took a formal photo, posted in the second frame, and then asked everyone to cheer for our gathering. Of course the cheering photo is the one that I posted first! I love the energy and celebratory vibe this photo has!
I do believe that family runs deeper than blood lines. Love connects all and makes any day a celebration!
