    Sidewalk Santa Parade-NYC

    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     RVCFOTO photographed the Sidewalk Santa Parade in New York City on November 23. She says the Sidewalk Santa drive raises money to Volunteers of America's Holiday Food Voucher program. She says one of the highlights of attending the parade was seeing the expression on adults and children’s faces when they saw the parade of Santas. 'It was lots of fun, even if you don't believe in Santa. It brought a big smile on my face,' she said.

    The 110th annual Volunteers of America Sidewalk Santa Parade took place on Friday Nov 23rd in NYC. The parade route started on 6th avenue and 50th st, going East to Fifth Avenue and then heading North on Fifth avenue to 59th Street ending at the Pulitzer Fountain in Grand Army Plaza,

     

    Since 1902 Sidewalk Santa’s have been collecting funds to feed families and individuals in need during the holidays. This year they will be helping the victims of hurricane Sandy.

    This parade takes place on the morning after Thanksgiving and quite a sight to see about 50 fully- suited, bell-ringing Santa’s in the streets of Manhattan.
