Houston Tamales- unsurpisingly "hot," but not in the way you think
I recently moved to Houston from the northeast and found that the one food item all Houstonians know and love is tamales. Before a few months ago, I had never tasted or smelled or even seen a tamale. I always assumed tamales were "hot" (spicy) and I still am not completely sure what is a tamale (Vegetable? Starch? Is it healthy for you?). If you are looking for the best tamale in Houston (which I believe would make it the best tamale anywhere in the U.S.), you should get one where the locals eat: Berryhill Baja Grill. They have a bunch of locations throughout Houston and all of their tamales are hand-rolled and made fresh everyday.
