The Philippines' very own Yema Cake
If the americans have lollipops and candies, here in the Philippines we have Yema. Yema is a candy made traditionally with egg yolks, condensed milk and sometimes added with jackfruit and peanuts to add some flavors. It is usually formed in a pyramid shape covered in colorful cellophane. But this time, yema is brought into another level which is turning it into a flavor of a cake. It is like minutes of heaven in your mouth that will surely put a smile not only in your face but also in your tummy. Here in San Pedro, Laguna we buy it in a place called Rosario and the yema cake is usually topped with small chocolate chips and small marshmallows can be found inside the cake. It is surely something that the Philippines can be proud of.
