This iReport is part of an assignment:
Challenges of the next president |
Why work?
I read a news story regarding who is considered middle class. The people claiming 'middle class' said they made $250,000+ a year yet barely were getting by. And they want help. I am a single (also going through a divorce) mom that does has a relatively good job but it seems to not be enough. This year I will barely clear $30,000. I am constantly told over and over that I do not qualify for any government assistance because I make too much money. But how can I make too much money, if I cannot even afford to rent an apartment and live on my own. Now if I quit my job and claim nothing then I will be fed and housed and then I can work a little part time job to put 'extra' money in my pocket and have all the quality time with my child.
When will something be done about the lazy people who just take advantage of the system? Put them out make them work and know what its like to earn an honest living? Why should they just get to sit at home and watch cable all day and work 20 hours a week when I am busting my butt and get nothing? I am not saying take they system away for the ones who deserve it but take it away from the freeloaders!
If someone making $250,000+ a year feels they are just barely middle class then by me barely making $30,000 a year-I must be poor; yet not one government agency will help me.
Well if you're not going to help me-then can I at least keep my taxes so I can help myself instead of the freeloading lazies that just sit at home all day?
When will there be change? Each presidental canidate talks about change-but tell me exactly how you plan on changing things. Don't promise me help and then it's just debated for the next 3 years whether it's a good idea only to have the complete idea nixed in the end. If you want me to vote for you tell me how you are going to make the single harding working moms (dads and families) only making $30,000 or less a year lives better. Don't promise change if you don't even have a plan to inact the change!
