Teaching Experience in China:
My name is Jeff Krofchik and I am a former teacher and administrator from Pittsburgh, PA. I would like to share my experience in China as a teacher and supervisor in a Chinese owned International Charter School. I arrived in China in Feb. of 2012 and began teaching immediately. I noticed that the children ages 3-6 were not being taught age appropriate information nor was there a complete curriculum. I also noticed many safety issues such as children having access to dangerous items such as cleaning supplies and sharp objects. After my first two weeks I requested a meeting with the current Principal in an attempt to address these problems and nothing happened. I have been the Academic Director and Supervisor off and on and there has been 4 different Principals over the last 10 months since I started. Aside from these issues I have done everything in my power to create a safe student centered learning environment. Overall I have enjoyed my experience in China and I love the children! I have sent some pictures that I have taken and can provide more information regarding my experience and there educational system. I am currently the Academic Director and the school is located in Beijing. I would also like to use some discretion regarding my school as I am currently still employed there.
