To compete and train for this event would be a life long dream come true for me. Not only do I want to do this for my own desire to accomplish an actual triathlon, but I am hoping that later on in life my son will be able to look back and see that anything that he wants to do that is positive and beneficial to others can be done if he puts his mind to it. Though his mother and Iare not together nor particularly getting along I want him to realize that his family members are capable of great things. I know this training and competing will be painful and mentally stressful but if he sees that his father was able to finish something he set out for, maybe he will think he can do the same thing and strive to be the best. My family has seen me struggle to obtain a college degree and though doubt was seeping from their encouraging words as I was trying to finish school, I took it as motivation. Now everyone in my family is happy to brag to their associates and friends about what I was able to come up from and complete. I was honored to see those that supported me at my graduation as they knew that it was not easy to get where I am today with the many negitive aspects of life trying to thwart my accomplishment. I want my son to see with this training and competition that pushing through the hard times and not being steered away from his goals, that he is capable of doing incredible things with his life!
