33 Simple Parols of Calle Pogi

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     stephhhhh captured these images of Christmas lights near her home in San Pedro, Laguna, the Philippines.

"Every time anyone passes by that street, they cannot help but pin their eyes on the colorful parols [a traditional Filippino Christmas decoration made from bamboo and paper]," she says.

"Even I cannot help myself from smiling whenever I pass by that street and think of how devoted Filipinos are in celebrating Christmas. This happens only once a year, so residents combine their efforts to put them up."
    - eoghan, CNN iReport producer

The unique embodiment of Christmas in the street of Calle Pogi in Pacita I, San Pedro, laguna exhibits 33 brightly lit huge parols or lanterns every night. This exhibit of parols done every year is the only street in San Pedro that celebrates Christmas this way. Every resident of Calle Pogi participated in setting up the parols around late October.
