    A Pal, A Son, A Soulmate

I named him Chai-Chai, meaning 'Little Son'. He was only the size of my palm when he first arrived. He was always there for me through the best years of my life --- courtship, marriage, childbirth. He consoled me with those big, beautiful eyes when I was down. Stayed with me when I felt lonely. Protected me when danger lurked.

Up to the last moments of his life, he stood by me. I had to make a very difficult choice to put him to sleep that evening as his kidneys and liver were failing and he was in much pain.

As I parked my car outside the Vet's my phone rang and the Vet informed me my 'Son' passed on only 5 minutes ago.

Chai-Chai knew it broke my heart to make the decision to let him go. He made it easy for me.

How much greater can a dog's love be?

Chai-Chai...forever in my heart, never forgotten. Tears continue to flow as memories of him return.
