Long Beach, NY-30 days after Sandy

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     bigmahi visited Long Beach, NY, on Sunday to see how the coastal community was faring. He explained the scene: 'The whole boardwalk looks like it had been lifted, twisted and dropped by an unseen force. The beach was pretty barren of most debris now but you can see all kinds of flotsam under and around the boardwalk. Amazingly all the sand that had been packed to the bottom of the boardwalk has been washed north to the nearby streets and yards. The flag was great. It was just there; to me, a sign of optimism.'
