Obong Nsima Ekere: My Dream For Akwa Ibom State.
The issue of favouritism and shift has never changed since 1960 when Nigeria gained independence, from the era of Tafawa Balewa/Azikiwe and Awolowo and Co; Shagari/Ekwueme and Awolowo and Co; Obasanjo/Atiku against Falaye and Co; Yardua/Jonathan against Atiku and Co; Jonathan/Sambo against Buhari and Co. These shifts and favouritism will continue as long as we are alive and moving forward. Like the Federal Government of Nigeria, the States have seen various or even more shifts and favouritisms, from four regions to today thirty six states. The States has grown so powerful that they now have some kind of control over their resources through the federation allocation policy. The oil producing States can boast of more Federal allocation compared to the non-oil producing states, the situation is so pathetic that some governors are even richer than some states in Nigeria, what an irony, it is in this paradox we see poor states with more local government compared to the rich States, all these boils down to the Federation account, what we cannot get from the States account we can get from the local government account, what an ambiguity.
Nsima Ekere, astute politician, business mogul and one time Deputy Governor of the great Akwa Ibom State. A man blessed with wisdom and the power to make change. Change we all know is inevitable and it is the only thing that is constant on mother earth. Obong Nsima Ekere is consulting not on the issue of becoming the governor of Akwa Ibom state, but on how the state can be great, on how the average Akwa Ibom man, woman, boy, girl can live a better life, on how the issues of employment can be resolved. For Obong Nsima becoming the governor of Akwa Ibom state in 2015 is not an issue, the issue is how he can transform the state to meet the today’s challenges of our daily lives. If he becomes the governor of Akwa Ibom State and the people continue to suffer, of what benefit that will be to the people and humanity is another concern for Obong Nsima. You cannot give what you don’t have, leadership is service to humanity. His resignation as the deputy governor of Akwa Ibom state is now history, we should now focus on the future of Akwa Ibom State and how the state can move forward. He wants all interest groups in the state to think towards that direction, we cannot be holding to the past all the time, the future lies our hope and lets work to make it great. He has designed a green book for the state that accommodates all interest groups and the people of Akwa Ibom state on the part to greatness and he strongly believes that and without any conviction, for any nation, state, local government there greatness is built on a skilled set of people and that is the skills he has acquired to build Akwa Ibom state to a greater height.
A Brief on His Three Point Vision for Akwa Ibom State
1. Unity: The unity of Akwa Ibom people all over the world is of paramount to Nsima Ekere. For him United we stand and divided we fall, his programs for the unification of Akwa Ibom people goes beyond religion, ethnicity, class and even education. For him all Akwa Ibomites are one that forms the people of Akwa Ibom State, remove one, it means you can remove all. In that unity they can build a stronger security, life, business and offspring’s.
2. The Power of Creativity: Nsima Ekere dream is to build in the mind of the people of Akwa Ibom State the power to be creative and independent no matter the place and circumstances they find themselves. In doing this he has dialogue with a lot of creative building experts on how this can be implanted in Akwa Ibom State. Creativity for Nsima Ekere is the mother of invention and he sees Akwa Ibom State as the next industrialized city in the world if his program is introduced in the State. The era of go to school and get a job will be over, and a new era of go to school and create a job will arise.
3. True Democracy: Democracy is government by the people and for the people. No democratic nation survives under false democracy and transparency is the watch word for democracy. His dream is to make Akwa Ibom State the most democratic state in Nigeria.
His visions in the three point agenda involve policies on health, education, security, business etc. for the benefit of Akwa Ibom people and Nigeria in general.
