    The Tall Ships

    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     MarieSager captured these images at the annual Tall Ship Festival in Newport, Rhode Island, this past summer.

    Historic vessels arrived from all over the world to take part in the three day festival, including the HMS Bounty which would sink after failing to escape the destruction caused by Hurricane Sandy in early November.

    "I was born in Providence. Rhode Island and Newport and it['s] ships have always held my interest," she says, "[but] this was the first time that I had the opportunity to explore them and talk to the crew."

    Newport, Rhode Island: On July 9th, the Tall Ships gathered in Narragansett Bay to begin the Tall Ships Parade of Sail. Each ship with a story of its own to tell.  This was a highlight of 2012 for me.  :)
